Don Juan of Austria attacks the town of Galera, a stronghold in Granada of rebel Moriscos - Moors who had converted from Islam to Christianity. He had been instructed to kill every person inside, but he refused and let several hundred women and children go. He did, however, sell all the survivors into slavery then level the entire town.

An illegitimate son of Holy Roman Emperor Charles V, Don Juan of Austria is an important military leader under half-brother, Philip of Spain, and becomes best known for his 1571 naval victory at the Battle of Lepanto in 1571 against the Ottoman Empire.
