Emperors Order the Maintenance of Privileges of Christian Churches

Roman emperors Arcadius and Honorius decree that all the privileges granted under pervious emperors to the Catholic church and to Catholic clergy shall remain.

This decree states:

"We confirm all those privileges that appear to have been granted formerly to the Church. We prohibit, therefore, under threat of punishment, that any privileges formerly obtained through reverence for religion be curtailed in any way. Those who serve the Church shall fully enjoy the special benefits which the Church has been granted." [CTh 16.2.30]
