Flemming Rose, cultural editor of the Jyllands-Posten and the editor responsible for publishing the Jyllands-Posten Muhammad cartoons, offers to publish the cartoons satirizing the Holocaust which the Iranian newspaper Hamshahri had announced the previous day they were commissioning.

Flemming Rose tells CNN:

"My newspaper is trying to establish a contact with that Iranian newspaper Hamshahri, and we would run the cartoons the same day as they publish them"

Later in the day, though, the editor-in-chief rejected that possibility out of hand and the next day Flemming Rose goes on indefinite leave, only returning to the Jyllands-Posten after several months.
