Dietrich Bonhoeffer's authorization to teach at the University of Berlin is revoked. Theodor Heckel, bishop for the German Evangelical Church, labels Bonhoeffer a "pacifist and enemy of the state."

Although Heckel is neither a Nazi nor part of the German Christian movement, he also rejects the Confessing Church movement which Bonhoeffer is part of because he thinks they are hurting the German Evangelical Church.
