Otto-Georg Thierack Joins Nazi Party

Otto-Georg Thierack

Otto-Georg Thierack, later president of the Volksgericht (People's Court) and eventually also Reich Minster of Justice, joins the Nazi Party.

Because he joins as this relatively early date, before the Nazis seize power, he will be accorded more respect later on, which allows him to rise higher in the party.

The Volksgericht will be given authority over political crimes, allowing the Nazis to create a veneer of legitimacy to their suppression of political dissent and execution of politically undesirable elements from society.

Among their victims will be Hans Scholl, his sister Sophie Scholl, and other members of the White Rose resistance movement in Munich.
