Adolf Hitler volunteers to serve in the First Bavarian Infantry Regiment during World War I.
The German army is a collection of regional forces based in each of the German states. The Bavarian army is one of the larger forces, though the Prussian army is the dominant one.
Placed with the Bavarian Reserve Infantry Regiment 16 (1st Company of the List Regiment), Hitler will serve as a dispatch runner and spend much of his time during the war behind the lines.
Instead, he will be allowed to slip through the selection process due to the confusion in the earliest days of World War I. It is during his time with the Bavarian army that Hitler develops his hyper-nationalist political viewpoints.
