Walter Funk is born in Sosnowka, Prussia. A nationalist and conservative, Funk will join the Nazi Party in 1931, serve as a deputy in the Reichstag for the Nazi Party, then be appointed Chief Press Officer of the Third Reich.

Eventually, Funk will replace Hjalmar Schacht as President of the Reichsbank and will hold this position until the end of World War II.

At the Nuremberg War Crimes Trial, he will be convicted of planning, initiating and waging wars of aggression, war crimes and crimes against humanity.
