Philip II Augustus of France is born in Gonesse, France. The last king of the Franks and the first king of France, Philip will be one of the most successful of all medieval French rulers.

Under his leadership, Paris will become one of the greatest cities of Europe, especially when it comes to scholarship and learning. He also expands influence and power of the French monarchy over more and more territory in what will be modern France.
