Cardinal Desmond Connell, leader of Ireland's Catholic Church, apologizes during a speech to priests and nuns for the "unspeakable harm" inflicted on so many children by his church's pedophile priests and the bishops who covered up for them.

Cardinal Connell says:

"We ask this for ourselves and the victims, who have been so gravely wronged by those who were our brothers."

This apology is not taken very seriously by protesters. John Kelly of Survivors of Child Abuse says:

"Cardinal Connell is a hypocrite and his apologies come far too late. He's admitted being informed of pervert priests all over Ireland but instead of taking action, he basically told the victims to go to hell."
