A new ATF assault on the Branch Davidian compound in Waco, Texas, leads to a fire which kills 76 people, including Davidian leader David Koresh and 17 children.
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF) along with the FBI and other federal agents first raided the Branch Davidian compound in February because of reports of weapons and child abuse. Six residents and four agents were killed in the initial encounter.
By this point the siege has lasted 51 days and the federal agents have mishandled matters in almost every possible way. During their final assault, it's not clear whether building catches fire through deliberate action from the Branch Davidians or more negligence from the federal agents.
