Protestant theologian Dietrich Bonhoeffer is arrested in Berlin because of his involvement in a plot to assassinate Hitler. As a German theologian and minister, Dietrich Bonhoeffer had been active in the religious protest against Nazi policies.

Bonhoeffer had first focused on peaceful and diplomatic efforts to stop the Nazis, but after finding that such methods achieved nothing he joined a plot led by military officers to assassinate Hitler — a plot which failed.
