Army Archbishop Rarkowski Writes Article Praising Hitler on His Birthday

Franz Justus Rarkowski

In Glaube und Kampf (Faith and Fighting), a Catholic newspaper for German soldiers, Army Archbishop Franz Justus Rarkowski writes an article praising Adolf Hitler on his first birthday during the war.

Archbishop Rarkowski states, in part:

"Today it is an already incontestable fact that Adolf Hitler has taken on a fateful meaning for our people and for the entire world. ...

May our thanksgiving and our readiness to repay loyalty with loyalty find expression in the prayer that means more to us in these days than it did in the quiet days of peace: "Bless, Oh God, our Führer and Supreme Commander in all the tasks placed upon him..."
