In the wake of General Francisco Franco's victory in the Spanish Civil War, Pope Pius XII sends Spanish Catholics a message to express his

"fatherly congratulations for the gift of peace and victory with which God has deigned to crown the Christian heroism of your faith and charity, proved through such great and generous sufferings."
