Heinrich Himmler orders that the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society be closed. Jehovah's Witnesses are banned from government jobs and many are arrested.

The Jehovah's Witnesses are the most consistent and even strident critics of the Nazi regime at this time, in particular when it comes to war. Jehovah's Witnesses are pacifists, a serious problem in a country like Nazi Germany where war is so glorified.
