Protestant theologian Dietrich Bonhoeffer writes to a friend that National Socialism has "brought an end to the church in Germany." Bonhoeffer is one of the few Christian leaders in Germany to not only recognize the threat of the Nazis, but also express them openly.

Most Christian leaders are only too willing to accommodate themselves to the Nazi regime and help in the fulfillment of their agenda.
