Bishop Bornewasser Supports Vote in Saarland to Rejoin Germany

Bishop Franz Rudolf Bornewasser, Far Right

Bishop Franz Rudolf Bornewasser of Trier makes no attempt to hide his support for the people of Saarland voting to rejoin Germany. He says that the clergy in his diocese must "do their utmost for the return of the Saar to the German Reich."

This fits with the Nazi doctrine that all Aryan Germans are a single Volk and should be brought together under a single national government. For the Nazis, government must be defined along racial lines: one government for one people under one leader.
