Friedrich Nietzsche publishes an essay on David Strauss, "Untimely Meditations I" (Unzeitgemässe Betrachtungen).

Nietzsche began reading Strauss when he started his theological studies in 1864.

He stopped his study of theology after just one semester, though, and that's probably because reading David Strauss's Life of Jesus caused him to lose his religious faith.
