Birth of Conrad Gröber, Future Archbishop Who Encourages German Catholics to Work With Nazis

Archbishop Conrad Gröber of Freiburg
Source: Wikipedia

Conrad Gröber is born. As Archbishop in Freiburg, Gröber will play an important role in encouraging German Catholics to work more closely with the Nazi Party and Nazi government. Gröber never joins the Nazi Party, but his endorsements of the Nazis and their agenda are so strong that people begin to refer to him as Conrad the Brown.

This doesn't mean that he criticizes the Nazi government, but his critical remarks are almost entirely limited to those areas which directly affect the Catholic Church.
