Manifesto Signed by Huguenot Leaders, Leads to French Wars of Religion

Huguenot leaders sign a manifesto in Orleans, France, declaring that they are being forced to take up arms against their persecution at the hands of the French Church and monarchy and that their only desire is freedom of conscience.

Because they refuse to give up the demand that they be allowed to freely exercise their faith, the French Wars of Religion begin.
