Source: Wikipedia

Battle of Mühlberg: The Schmalkaldic War ends when the Lutheran Schmalkaldic League of Protestant princes is defeated by the forces of the Catholic princes of the Holy Roman Empire.

The Catholic forces are mostly professional, experienced Spanish military as well as some mercenaries. The Protestant forces are outmanned and outflanked, leading to several thousand deaths. This forces the dissolution of the Schmalkaldic League. Nevertheless, the Protestant problem doesn't go away.
