At the age of 40, Swiss Protestant reformer Ulrich Zwingli (once a Catholic priest) publicly marries Anna Reinhard, a widow he had secretly exchanged marriage vows with in 1522.

Just three months later Anna Reinhard gives birth to the first of their four children. Their marriage will last until Zwingli was killed at the Battle of Kappel in 1531.
