Under the command of John the Fearless, thousands of French knights and soldiers set out from the Burgundian capital Dijon to aid the Hungarians against the Ottoman Turks.

They will reach Nicopolis in Bulgaria where a combined army of French, Hungarian, German, and Burgundian Crusaders are destroyed by the Ottoman Turks.

This is often called the Crusade of Nicopolis or sometimes the Last Crusade because it's the last large Christian Crusade of the Middle Ages. The loss at Nicopolis is due largely to the inept leadership of John the Fearless who is capture and released a year later against a large ransom.
