Battle of Fariskur: In the last major battle of the Seventh Crusade, King Louis IX of France is captured along with his army and ransomed in exchange for the surrender of Damietta — the only real achievement of the Crusade.

Louis is lucky to be released at all because the difficulty with caring for the large numbers of prisoners led to the Egyptians executing many of them.
