Conrad of Montferrat learns that King Richard I Lionheart of England now supports his claim on the throne of Jerusalem. Richard had previously supported Guy of Lusignan, but when he learned that none of the local barons supported Guy in any way, he chose not to oppose them.

In order to prevent a civil war from breaking out, Richard will sell the island of Cyprus to Guy as a form of compensation. Guy of Lusignan's descendants will continue to rule Cyprus for another two centuries.
