The population of Cyprus revolts against their rulers, the Knights Templar. King Richard I Lionheart of England had sold Cyprus to them, but they became cruel overlords known for their high taxation.

The small garrison of Templar Knights is able to defeat the revolt, but they decide that continuing to hold the island against such passionate resistance by the local population will be too much trouble and require too many of the Order's resources. Thus they return Cyprus to Richard who will then get to sell it again, this time to Guy of Lusignan.
