Baldwin I, King of Jerusalem, dies. Baldwin Le Bourg is named his successor, King Baldwin II. Baldwin I had been the real founder of the Latin Kingdom of Jerusalem and the real force behind its expansion.

Baldwin the second is his cousin and the choice of the various barons.
